    I would have mentioned that also but those CPUs from 1998 era only exist in our memories now... :(

    New celerons (penryn or merom based) are faster than pentium 4 m. You should take a look at benchmarking tests.( http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html) Of course that dont have speedsteping like a core 2 duo but the performance is good and battery life of the notebook is good also.
    If you want a gaming laptop pay for a good video card, if you have a quad core with an x3100 will perform equal than a celeron with the same graphics card. For normal use celerons are fast, its very dificult to reach 100% cpu.
