I would like to have 802.11ac speed but I don't want to have to buy a new laptop to do it nor do I want to have to use an external wireless card that hogs up one of my usb ports.

Are there any ac half height internal wireless cards for sale for laptops? Or perhaps any that are expected to come out in the near future?

2 streams in, 2 streams out, more streams means better throughput provided your router also supports that number of streams.

thanks a lot guys. I think that card should work. You guys don't see any reason it wouldn't do you (maybe drivers unavailable or something)? Just a little scared as its not available on the intel site yet but I can buy it from compsource which I've never heard of before.

Are they coming out with anything better than 2x2 within the next 2 months? Cause I can wait that long before buying both my router and card.

Just be careful of the whitelisting of after market wifi cards not all card work in all devices. You need to find a spare or someone that can loan you one to test to be sure it works before buying a replacement. I learn from experience not all wifi card will work interchange with another laptop. The BIOS will tell you this when you boot up or you will get no wifi indicator that you have a wifi.

Asus usually don't whitelist wireless adapters, be careful not to get one meant for a whitelisted notebook like those for Lenovo, they won't work in other notebooks. Drivers for Windows 7 might not be available either, so be mindful of that.
