    is it possible to make your LCD even dimmer than what your config program lets you?

    when im in bed at night with my laptop all the lights are out in my room except my laptop so if it were dimmer i wouldnt mind. is it possible?

    Some notebooks have a separate brightness option in the BIOS settings. It depends on your notebook. I know my friend's Inspiron 1420 had this; his display was ridiculously dim even at max brightness, so I loaded his BIOS, and the brightness setting there wasn't even halfway up.

    You can lower it through software.
    E.g. if you have intel IGP, you can lower it through intel GMA driver program.

    damn... there's no such option on my lenovo sl400

    this darn thing is BRIGHT even at lowest settings... so bright that it's a pain to work with at a lecture hall
