So basically my laptop has several stuff broken, the fan is one of the broken items
so i got an idea to replace the fan with one from a gaming laptop, for example. maybe it has better rpm, less noise, adjustable
does it worth it? is it even possible?
any recommendations?
the laptop is HP envy 15 q004tx
here is the fan

A fan from a different model simply won't fit, unless you're willing to get your hands dirty.

Not unless HP has different model replacement. Just go to eBay and buy a New fan based on your fan Part Number and replace it.

Maybe but as said above, it will require modification to make it work (Unless you are lucky). I did it on a previous laptop and it involved making a new baseplate to match the existing screw mounting points and a small amount of chassis removal. It wasn't the hardest modification in the world to get it fitted. Had to splice the old plug to the new wiring which was tricky but got there in the end. I wouldn't recommend it unless you get the fan very cheaply and there's nothing to lose by playing around with it.

the bad thing about the original laptop's fan is it's not adjustable and it runs on low speeds until the CPU reaches 90.
i'd get my hands dirty if it does worth it -
The fan control is to blame. The fan itself doesn't sense CPU temperature.

Mm. The voltage adjustment for the fan is given in % of total speed and so on in the bios settings. Weird, to be honest, that we haven't gotten cpu and gpu fan control that monitors and adjusts rpm in real time. I mean, it does exist.
The biggest mystery about radiator fans on laptops, though, is that although they look identical, the plastic backplate is actually different between the models. That the holes for the screws just don't fit to a different layout, although the size of the fan casing is the same.
Why - no one knows. You're just standing there with two identical, yet distinct pieces of machinery. And you're traveling through another dimension. A dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. Etc.
is it possible to upgrade a laptop's fan?
