Hello,
I was wondering is there any SCSI or SAS disk laptops out there?
-
None that I know of. The only real benefit in those types of disks are in the server market.
-
It would be nice to have 10000 rpm SAS drives in a laptop wouldn't it.
What's the issue? Is it a heat/power consumption thing? -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
I'll bet that's at least part of the story. I think you'll start needing active cooling for HDD's after 7200RPM and seeing notebook cooling systems are already pretty stressed...
-
it would be nice but it would be too costly both in terms of price and power. one option you might have is to get a notebook with an esata 3g connector and use an external sata hd. if i remember correctly sas uses sata connectivity.
-
In terms of performance and reliability shouldn't SSD be close to SCSI?
-
For reading, yes. For writing, no.

The closest you can get is a PCMCIA SCSI card, I know Sun used to offer some SPARC based laptops with the option.
is there any SCSI or SAS disk laptops out there?
