I just purchased the pb22-j samsung 256GB ssd and was wondering about how long it would last me. I don't really do a lot of write intensive activities. I don't burn dvd's on it, or anything... I do some virtualization though. (with virtualbox)

It ought to last 4-5 years or maybe longer. Just turn off indexing, superfetch etc and auto defrag under vista as those just thrash the SDD. I wouldn't worry about the number of write cycles however as the controller in the SSD will give in long before you reach the maximum number of writes on the drive.

you don't need to turn off anything anywhere. don't listen to king of interns. the ssd will outlast the rest of your hw for sure.
