it will be faster but don't expect it to play many new computer games... for that , u'd need a new laptop... for watching videos up to 720p , u should have no problems... office work will also be faster... and ur T5500 should work... but before u upgrade remember to upgrade the BIOS to the latest version.

the thing is u can't be... ur BIOs might not support the CPU and cause the laptop not to boot but if u don't take the risk , u gain nothing... u have to try out and see....

Chipset is only half the answer. If your CPU isn't also supported in the BIOS, your computer won't be able to communicate with the CPU. Manufacturers have even been known to deliberately lock out certain CPUs in their BIOS.

    The T5500 won't work because it's a socket M CPU while the G7000 has a socket P.

the T5750 should work without bios upgrade since some HP G7000 units were sold with this CPU.

The list below is the list of all CPUs that were sold with the G7000. This is a safe list since you should be able to upgrade without a bios upgrade:
    T8300, T8100, T7250, T7100, T5750, T5450, T2370, T2330, T2310, Celeron M550, 540, 530.

    This list is not inclusive since you might be able to try other CPUs such as the T7800, T7700, T7500, T7300, T6600, T6500, T6400, T4400, T4300, T4200, T3400, T2390...
