what is the use of the PCI E slot in a laptop? Is it now possible to upgrade the graphics processer in a laptop?

For a reference check out the new Toshiba A100-SK9

PCI-E is just an interface, it is not currently possible to really upgrade graphics in a laptop. For that the laptop has to accept MXM modules. But even if it did, installing new modules can be troublesome, since most manufacturers solder the modules in, and even if you could put a new one in, the result will be a shorter battery life, higher power drain and more heat.

At the moment the PCI-E interface only makes it easier for the notebook manufacturers to install graphics cards.
