I just bought some speakers which I think are unshielded.

How close can I use my laptop with it? I normally have the speakers on the edge of the table with my laptop in the center, with about 6 inches from my laptop to the closest TV.

I also have a CRT about 6 inches away too. :(

So what's the shortest distance I can do without getting my laptop damaged? I also have a subwoofer, so how much do I have to worry about the damage caused by vibrations by the subwoofers?

btw the speakers are Logitech S220, which I think are unshielded, but I'm not sure.

Depends on how strong the magnet is, I guess.

Probably somewhere between directly on top of the speakers and 1" above them.

    Don't worry about the CRT.

well each satellite is 4w and the subwoofer is 9w. i'm not sure how strong the magnet is. I'm not thinking of putting my laptop on top of the speakers. I'm talking about putting them all on a desktop.

i'd worry more about a magnet next to the CRT than i would the laptop.

My point is that you have nothing to worry about. My netbook has surprisingly strong magnets right next to the HDD to hold the screen shut instead of a latch.

So stop worrying about magnets and enjoy your speakers.

@shadowarachh - yeah, I would worry about that more than the laptop. But it's nothing a degauss couldn't fix.
