About 1 week ago my Asus M51Ta laptop started to have a fan issue. As soon as you turn the system on - the fan will go into high speed mode and will not reduce its speed. I have tried removing the battery and AC power to see if that would help, but to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas on what I can try to get the system fan to return to normal speed? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Do you know what kind of internal temperatures are being reported? It could be that you need to clean out your notebook so the cooling system can operate at maximum efficiency.

I will see if I can find an AMD program that will check the CPU load. I could totally shut down the laptop and just boot up with 1 user loaded and the fan immediately goes up to full speed as soon as the box is turned on.

You should be able to check temperatures with HWMonitor and CPU load with CPU-z and Task Manager(press Ctrl+Shift+Esc and click performance).

If the temperatures are too high, you may want to consider sucking any accumulated dust in the cooling vents using a vacuum cleaner.
If temperatures seem normal (40-60C idle), then a bios update may do the trick. -
Probably overheating.. old AMD laptops are very prone to it. Clean the dust from your vents using compressed air or a vaccum cleaner altough i wouldn't suggest the later. Also if you can get a cooling pad.. but for beginers can you post a screenshot of the temperatures shown by CPUID Hardware monitor? We can tell if its overheating or not then.
laptop fan issue - stays on high speed
