    hello
i have a dual boot (windows 7 and linux) laptop
few days ago power manager in windows 7 sarted showing it's charging even though power cable was unplugged.

the charging light is always on even if i turn off laptop and unplug it.

linux also shows the same problem

i have tried to install both windows and linux again but the problem is not resolved.

    Welcome to the forum!

Knowing which laptop we're discussing here to begin with would help, although what you're describing sounds like a failure within the charging circuitry on the motherboard.

Is the machine still under warranty? If so, now would be the time to use it.

If not...you are either going to have to learn with this malfunction, or swap the motherboard.

    Good luck.

I'm 99% certain that it is a motherboard problem.

    Good luck.
