The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
What's the RAM and graphics card?
-
and which prog are u using to play the DVDs..??
-
l am running celeron m 2G with 2038mb ram, task manager says cpu is under 20% and ram under 1000 mb, and l am using compaq/hp dvdplay and window media player, and yes it comes with vista installed
-
that seems like more than adequate....
when did it start doing this? how long have you had it?
is the firmware up to date? latest drivers? codecs?
just for kicks, download the freeware VLC-- and use it as your player...
post back and let us know!!! -
I'm surprised they loaded Vista onto a Celeron M. I have a celeron and it is slow
.
I recommend you try some of the media players listed in this thread:

The programs are a little more lightweight than Windows Media Player.
Also, is the CPU measure you gave while the DVD is playing or when it is stopped? -
my graphics card is Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

what is firmware? l bought it less than 2 months ago
at first it lag/ pause randomly, then l shutted down all those start up programmes like window defender, health check etc to, things improve a little bit, it only skips a little once in a while, then suddenly it started all over again, at first l thing it is the optical drive, so l bought an external dvd drive to see if thing improve, but it still lag almost exactly same time after l start the movie, l dont think it is the disk, since it has no scrath and when l rewind that part it plays fine -
Are you watching videos while on battery or are you on AC? If your on battery it could lag if you have some power saving settings turned on.

sounds like codec issues....u wud need a gud dvd decoder to run a dvd or u may just download VLC and use that....it can run any video format..
or to check the availability of ur dvd decoder....Click Start, click Run, type dvdupgrd /upgrade, and then press ENTER
mine shows Nero AG....on my old laptop which is a celeron on an i940 chipset..
