I need to replace my laptops power adapter as it has stoped working.
the one i have has an output of 16v 2.5a but when i search online for a replacement some are coming up with 16v 4 a or 16 v 3.5a a but they all state that they are for my laptop.
Does the amp output matter a huge deal?
i dont want to go blowing up the laptop many thanks for any help

More amps is fine, you just want to make sure the voltage is matched.
The laptop will only draw the # of amps it needs to run. Considering your finding stronger PS's as replacements it could even be a sign that the stock PS was not sufficient and thus why it died. -
ohh excellent thanks very much for the quick reply

As Vicious said, more amps isn't an issue really. The computer will only 'use' what it needs-and higher amps may help it charge a little faster. Now if you got a power supply with too low an amp rating, that could be an issue. The computer will try to 'pull' too much and could lead to adapter damage and possibly computer damage. I always tell people, go up in amps if you want. NEVER go down. And always stay with the same voltage +-.5 volts.
