easy to check, if the HDD light blinks steadily it's too little RAM, otherwise it's some other problem (GPU driver / something is not cooled properly / etc)

What graphics card do you have?
1 GB of RAM is plenty for Diablo II.

Did you try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it?

Heck, 512 MB is plenty for diablo 2! This is hardly a computer taxing game by today's standards. Sounds like driver issues. Check out:

    www.laptopvideo2go.com

and hunt down vista drivers for your laptop. Goodluck!

You need the Diablo update. All my newer laptops freeze without it. Search online for the URL. On a new hi-rez laptop you will end up with a small window into hell ;)

Your laptop should have no problems running Diablo II.
Try downloading the latest Diablo patch from Blizzard's website.

And what graphics card do you have in your notebook? Try updating the drivers for that. Tell me what graphics card you have and I'll link you to the drivers.
