my computer won't restart.....it goes to the blue screen ( I have vista by the way) and it will go through the "Windows logging off" and "windows shutting down" but it actually doesn't restart...it just hangs there....for a long time....and I highly doubt it will take that long to restart a computer...

and if it helps, this started after I installed an internal Intel 4965AGN wireless network card

and here's the specs of my laptop

    Asus S96S
    T7500 2.2Ghz
    2.0 Gb RAM

Rather than posting 2 or 3 threads, please just bump the thread until you get a response.

If it started after installing the Intel 4965 card, my first thought would be to remove the 4965 card (or at least its drivers) and see if the notebook is able to shut down. If it is, you may want to try using an older version PROset driver to see if the same problem occurs (or you may want to try only installing the driver, rather than driver + management software).

yeah I had to manually shut it down because it was getting anyway and now when I starts again...it gets stuck at the welcome screen....and it says "applying updates" for a really long time

Vista actually does that. I've seen a computer in that stage for 30 minutes. Just wait it out - it'll only happen once.

Try booting to safe mode to do a system restore.

To boot into safe mode, tap "F8" repeatedly as the notebook is booting to bring up the Windows Boot Menu, then just choose Safe Mode from the list of options. Once Windows loads, go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore, then just choose a restore point from before you started having this trouble.

oh crap...and I actually stopped it by manually forcing it to shut down too....is that bad for the computer?

edit: now I'm having problem getting through the loading bar....the black screen with the green loading bar thing...now what it does is lag and just keep going.....

    is it vista's problem?

and I also tried to get into safe mode.....but it hangs loading it as well

I think I'm just going to re-install vista...and see what happen
