I purchased a new Toshiba M100 notebook last week and have found that my speakers appear to be Realtek rather than Harmon Kardon as advertised on their site:

"Harmon Kardon Stereo Speakers Intel High Definition Audio with Dolby Home Theatre sound for enhanced clarity"

I've heard that Harmon Kardon speakers are very good quality...how about Realtek? Is their any point complaining?

    Thankyou!

I don't think Realtek make the speakers themselves. They make audio chips and software to improve the audio quality. It is possible the speakers themselves are Harmon Kardon.

How is the audio quality? That is what matters.

LOL! rayz nothin to worries about. realtek is the audio codec (intergrated sound card). the speaker is Harman Kardon. ur not being tricked ;)

harman/kardon speaker is generally a lot better than its equivelant sized competitors (the bigger the better) HP laptop nowdays uses Altec Lansing which is quite good also.
but i somewhat prefer harman/kardon one.

Well, I must admit I am no expert...but I am more then happy with the quality of the speakers. I am only worried about realiabilty, if they aren't Harmon Kardon, which they probably are haha...thanx guys.

*I have a set of altec lansing speakers with my desktop...also very good.

is there any prints on the laptop that says "harman/kardon" because lower-end of the series might not have the speaker.

if it has harman/kardon prints on it then it has the harman/kardon speaker.

in some parts of the world u can ordered it as an upgrade, when u order it.

I think the Harman-Kardon speakers on my Toshiba are way better than the Altec-Lansing on my HP.

Man, Harman/kardon speakers are very weak on my Toshiba P105-s9337. My left speaker blew out (Whenever something has bass I get some nasty static out of the speaker). Plus, the audio chip is very weak! Many sounds get distored (especially the bass) and things sound horrible. I had to buy SRS Audio Sandbox, an audio plugin that has many different features and gives my harmon/kardon speakers justice. Nevertheless I'm sending it in for repair on Tuesday because I cant stand the static out of the left speaker.
