Alright so i am going out of town again without my laptop. Last time i did though, for about 4 days i left my laptop turned off on a table, unplugged. I came back and turned it on and it would just sit at a black screen but the lights would go on and i would hear the fan, just nothing was happening.
I turned it off and turned it on again and after a few minutes it would boot up normally.
SO my question is, would leaving a laptop off completely for a few days have some similar effects like this?

??? Computers are made to be able to turn on and off. If yours is not doing so properly, then you've got a problem.

No. A computer is not human. They don't get lethargic just sitting around.
-
It's a good idea to remove the battery though (I don't remember exactly why), but either way it should work fine when you return to it.

weird...
Any ideas why that might've happened then? -
I have seen that happen some times with computers. Maybe some dirt and or humidity.
-
that shouldn't happen... it should turn on easily even when not used for a few days... Something must be wrong with the laptop....
-
Well, as people above said - it shouldn't happen.
Just make sure you shut it down properly - i.e. no crash etc. and else, well - it shouldn't take longer than normally to boot. -
If it's an older laptop, it could be the CMOS battery going bad, especially if it was left unplugged, and the batter was drained... -
Come to think of it, I have had that before. When my desktop's motherboard broke, and it got fixed, during that period it hadn't been turned on in about a week, and it took about 3 minutes to boot up...

A computer will take the same amount of time to boot after 1 hour as after 1 month. -
Normally when I've experienced a problem like this it was the hard drive not spinning up that caused it, especially if the computer was left in a cold room.
I would often times not use my old Dell Inspiron 5160 for several weeks (or even months) at a time and at most it might take a few extra seconds to boot up the first time after setting that long, but I never had to resort to turning it off and on again to get it going.
