This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     lightsribe option but not supported?

    I got an Acer Aspire 8930G today. When I look at the hardware configuration screen it says I have a hl-dt-st bddvdrw ct10n DVD/BD player. The moment I stick a dvd/cd in the druve it will ask me what to do and one option is burn a lightscribe image. I can't find the appropriate software on my laptop so I assume it's not supported but why would the computer give me that option? Would a firmware update let me burn Lightscribe images? Thanks.

    My Toshiba had the lightscribe icon on the taskbar even though the DVD-RW does not support it, I think when they clone a master HDD, they include lightscribe because some notebooks support it.

    It`s a bit confusing.
