I installed the new 100gb seagate drive on my Dell about a month ago. I might be developing paranoia, but is it normal for this drive to make a click noise every 5-6 seconds when you're not doing any hard drive intensive work in Windows?

Same here , its always disconcerning when the drive ticks ..
    I'm gonna die .. I'm gonna die .. I'm gonna die ..

I'm not familier with the new segates but :

Try to download new firmware , hitachi got an acoustic firmware
update that trades silence for performence .
havn't tried it yet maybe someone can say if it works ?
Maybe segate got something like that .

Try to defrag , whenever I defrag the drive seems a lot quiter , maybe because the heads don't need to move as much and 100GB is a large drive which probably gets lots of "action" ( R/W/RW ) .
