Hi everyone,
I'm in the market to get a new SSD for my laptop. I've been leaning towards the 128gb Crucial M4 because its selling at a good price in my eyes. But I have also heard good things about the Samsung 830 series.
My dilemma is that I don't know which one to get. which is better? the Samsung is about 20 dollars more. Is it worth the extra? (I'm going to college soon so every penny counts). Are there any other SSDs I should be aware of?
Thanks for the help guys.

The samsung is pretty nice. If you like games they are selling them with free copies of ghost recon or something on newegg right now. The crucial is highly recommended here but personally I think the write speed is too low to compete with other sata 3 ssd's.

You won't notice a difference between them.

I have 2 of the Samsung 830s (128GB) and 2 of the Crucial M4s (128GB/256GB).
Performance-wise, the difference can be seen in benchmarks, which are synthetic. The same activity is rarely duplicated in real-life. You are very unlikely to notice a difference, in real-world use.
Endurance testing does clearly suggest a longer durability for the Samsung 830, but the Crucial is durable enough that you'll probably be upgrading it as obsolete junk before it actually were to die on you.
The Samsung seems to maintain performance better over time, I suspect due to a better garbage collection in the firmware. But again, the difference is not huge. -
Thanks guys for all the help. I got the Samsung with a nice coupon on Newegg for cheaper than the Crucial
