i have a 320GB hdd, which up until today showed around 130GB of free space... as of right now it shows 1.8GB free out of nowhere! earlier i deleted a large torrent download (that actually never completed but showed as 2 or 3 GB file. i ran ccleaner, and it showed stuck on this file with some name like $3GU4J.rar. I exited ccleaner, rebooted, defragged, cleaned registly, and tried multiple times to run ccleaner and it would keep getting stuck on this 1 file. then i noticed the HDD showing only 1.8GB free..

i need some instruction as i have no idea what to do. i am going to run a HDD diagnostic thru BIOS tonight when i go to bed. other than that, any ideas??? im clueless.

i just did a system restore to yesterday and the problem is still the same. i run ccleaner again and it gets stuck on that same file. also, when ccleaner is trying to 'delete' that file my entire system runs slow

well, i downloaded a program called WinDirStat, and looked inside my "C:/$RECYCLE...." directory which i couldnt figure out how to find on my own (i'm a relative vista newbie). and, yep, it showed as being a 131GB file.. i deleted it within WinDirStat, and all of my freespace is now showing again... if only you could give rep to yourself lol.

Good job figuring this out on your own, and in about 25 minutes to boot.
