Just wondering what hard drive is showing the lowest power consumption in the 320/500gb cap area.
    Thanks.

It was the 5K500.B, not sure if something better has come in the last year.

Going by Nando's link I'd say the Toshiba MK5055GSX is the lowest power 500GB hard drive.

Toshiba MK3233GSG and MK2529GSG use even less power. Comparison

Theses drives will give many SSDs a tough time in power consumption.

But don't overlook that those two drives are 1.8" and don't have impressive performance. This Tom's Hardware link gives a good power consumption chart. (There are also other power consumption benchmarks but the video power benchmark appears to be representative of moderate usage).

Good call. They included 1.8" drives in the 2.5" charts. I had no idea.

power consumption in hard drives really doesn't matter unless ur really using a really CULV notebook.. any hard drive works to be frank... what matters is speed :D.... but IMO , hitachi should have lowest consupmtion from what i've heard...
