    Hi, can an m.2 ssd work in an msata slot? I see some answers but they are for the reverse situation.

    @Grump m.2 SATA drive (B/B+M key) will work. However, fitting any drive larger than m.2 2242 will be impossible on most laptops, due to length constraints; also, there may not be enough height to accomodate the adapter and SSD at all. With desktops, it is much easier.

    So theoretically both m.2 and nvme drives can work on an older msata?

    M.2 NVMe (PCIe) ssd's can't be used in M-sata slot :cool:
