Has anyone ever used all mSATA SSD's in their systems, even in the 2.5" SSD ports (using adapters)?

I'm wondering if it would be worth while doing so. My goal is to extend battery life. mSATA SSD's seem to consume less energy than regular SSD's (at least Samsung 840 EVO's do). My main fear is degraded performance. Some adapters do not work great.

Here's one adapter I found: Amazon.com: Syba mSATA SSD to 2.5-Inch SATA Adapter (SY-ADA40050): Electronics

By using an adaptor, you will be using more energy than both connection types you're bridging.

Well, then I suppose I have my answer. Thanks.

StarTech claims that their SAT2MSAT25 is completely pass-through. I was thinking about giving it a try, but its rather pricey and that's without shipping and import duties.

Yeah, some are quite expensive. I thought it would be worth it if I could decrease power consumption. The Samsung 840 EVO mSATA SSD's consume like 34%~ less power (at idle) than most other SSD's. That's a pretty significant difference, if you ask me. But, if what Tiller said is true, it may not worth it.
