So I'm doing research to choose what to do with my lenovo ideapad y570 on its way... My y570 does not have their hybrid drive because they were sold out at the time. Here are my choices from the research I've done so far:

    1. $180-$200 mSATA (most likely intel 310 series 80GB whenever its available.
    2. ~$250 exchange for y570 with hybrid drive (814GB hyrbid drive.
    3. ~$100 Seagate Momentus XT (Seagate's 500GB sdd/hd hybrid drive)

I would also like to know everybody's general opinion on hybrid drives vs mSATA drives. Also is there a better one than the Seagate Momentus XT?
    Thanks

There are more mSATA SSD's available other than intel. I got a 64GB Mydigital SSD for $132 shipped.

The hybrid drive on the Y570 is a normal 750GB HDD plus a mSATA SSD... so in the end, its the same as just buying a mSATA and installing it yourself... This is what I read... don't know if the information is correct... but I suspect it is.

    750GB HD + 64GB SSD = 814GB

haven't used a hybrid HDD, but comparing my 750GB boot time vs the SDD, its 90 secs vs 25-30 secs respectively... this is with the lenovo restore... don't have a Win 7 home disk to do a fresh install.
