I am having a decision problem of going for a 1 or 2 gb ram for the macbook. I have no problem with investing in a 2gb ram but some people are saying that if you are not going to do heavy work on it, having more ram than needed will actually SLOW down your system and be a problem. Has anyone heard of this?

Thats absurd. The more the merrier if it comes to systems memory.

The only drawback in investing in more ram and not utilizing it is the waste of money in buying that extra RAM, since after 1-2 years when you would really require the extra RAM; it would be much cheaper by then.
