Well here's my problem... i have a core 2 duo t5500 1.66 processor in my hp. In the beginning I wanted something close to the caliber of my laptop i have now in at least a 1.8 but unfortunately i could only get it in a 1.6 processor. I like my laptop dont get me wrong but i feel as tho it's a little weak compared to a sony vaio i had with a 1.8 processor with only 1 gig. My laptop has 2gigs of memory and whenever i play music on the windows media player, i get this interuption (music stutering) when i switch to a full screen application (like the video display on media player). Now i have no idea if thats a problem with my laptop or the lack power from the laptop. I guess my real question is, if i up grade to a 2.0 or even a 1.8, will i continue to have the same problem? Because by all means, id rather upgrade and get better performance than stay stuck with a 1.6. but if theres a way to solve this matter with just a couple of configurations than i would wait till later down the road and upgrade. thanks in advance :)

I believed this isnt a hardware problem rather then a software problem. I am running much older Celeron. I tested, I didnt hear any interruption when I am playing music when I switch to a full screen application. How many processes do you have running on the background?

Whenever I switch to a video display or a game or something similar I also get this music stutter. This shows the perils of integrated sound. I have the 1.8 and the same thing happens to me and I assume the 2.33 people dont have it much if any better since it is related to the integrated sound.

Maybe HP didn't configure it to run properly on both cores (search the threads to find how to do this, I believe it's a sticky). Its probably not your processor as what you're describing shouldn't cause both cores to run at 100% and stutter. Also, check and make sure you have the newest drivers for sound card, video card, etc.
