    Hi.

I have 2gb in my PC but i would like 3gb.

My 2gb is made by crucial, so i would like to stay with the same brand.

But when i get the crucial website, to recommend upgrades.

It only gives me matched pairs, and says they should be the same speed and size.

Would it be OK, for me to use a 2gb + 1gb or would i loose performance.

    thanks

    John.

Does the info in the dual channel RAM guide answer your question? You will lose a little bandwidth, but not enough to notice.

It is pefectly fine to use a 2gb + a 1gb ram module. Just be sure to get the same speeds (if your first stick is 800mhz, make sure the other is, or if your first is 667, make sure the other is) Or else both ram sticks will run at the slower speed.

So in short, yes, you can mix and match w/o losing performance
