Is it possible to install 3gb (one slot of 1gb and the other slot of 2gb) of ram in the E1505? will this affect performance or the dual channel efficiency?

dont buy the memory, it will not work.
I have the E1505, and the system will only start once with more than 2gb of memory. The Bios will read more than 2gb, and than the system will restart cause it sees more memory, than the system will hang and shut off.
You will need to press the media direct button for it to reboot.
The system only supports 2gb of memory.

A fellow member says he has 4gb of memory in it, but I have the same memory and Bios revision, and mine wont work, so I think he is lying. He never proved he had 4gb of memory, but I know for a fact it doesnt support more than 2gb of memory.

if Ktron says no then it's likely a no go....
if by chance you can get 3 gigs working, the DDR will loose a few % in switching from asymetric to symmetric transfer mode. you do loose at max 5% from the speed of a matched set of ram,,,, if memory serves me....

just try it if you already have the ram....
but if buying, i'd listen to Ktron especially if he owns one of these... he knows what he's doing, and i bet he has already tried it with many types of ram!!
