i order a dell e1705 with 512mb 667mhz (i thought i will upgrade to 1gb later for cheaper price) with the hope they use 1x512 mb. however they shppied me 2 x 256 T__T and i suppose they sent me a pc2 5300 667mhz memory sticks.

so i want to make use at least one 256mb stick and im shopping for a 1gb 667mhz . im now choosing pc2 5300 and pc2 5400. so the question is if i buy a pc2 5400 stick, will it run with the other one pc2 5300 256mb stick?

anyone tried this before pls let me know

    thanks

Yeah it should; the memory should run at the lower speed.
