    i have an old 7200rpm hd that i've had for, what, three years now, that uses the IDE interface. would a modern 5400rpm hard drive that uses sata still read/write faster than my old hard drive? i just want to get a general idea of a a 5400rpm hd's speed since i plan to get a lappy pretty soon :) tia

    Is this laptop going to be for gaming? Are you concerned more about load times for programs?

    They do have lap tops with 7200 RPM drives...but they drain the battery faster.

    The main question is what are you using the computer for...mainly.
