Hello,
im buying a new laptop and my current hangs alot especially when i open thunderbird or firefox with high usage because my mailbox is large and i'm a heavy browsing user
i was thinking to buy the lenovo X300 but due its low processor would this effect me ? or the cache of the processor and the 4GB ram would handle the job?
or should i go for the lenovo W500 for the better bus speed and better processor ?
Thank you.

For launching FF and TB as fast as possible you want the fastest SSD you can get your hands on. The SSD in X300 is quite fast but not the fastest I believe ( review).
If you'b buy W500 with a good performing SSD it would be faster.
Here you can see how quick a good performing SSD (Samsung SATA II) launches applications under heavy use:

For the fastest speed and load, you need the fastest Hard Drive (speed of loading), and RAM (amount of load). Processing is also important.
What are your current specs for your notebook, that'd give a baseline to see what we're comparing to. -
i have T42P with centrino 2.10Ghz and 2GB ram i had 7200ROM 60GB but it was dying so i got Samsung HM160HC, it is a 160gb 5400rpm as per K-TRON recommendations at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=274723 but still i'm facing slowness issues
so the best would be an SSD no matter if it ws 2GB or 4GB ram right? -
btw if it help i run ubuntu linux not windows

A 320GB 7200RPM HDD will be fine as well. A fast HDD will help you with faster application loading, as well as quicker boot times. More RAM will help you with more multi-tasking, and the CPU is responsible for transferring the data within the RAM, HDD and GPU, etc.
So get a notebook with a good CPU (~2.4GHz C2D), and you can upgrade the HDD and RAM yourself.... -

If you start Firefox with lots of tabs open then it will take a long time to load because it is trying to refresh all the pages, so that will need an ultra-fast internet connection. You can either set Firefox to start to a home or blank page or use sleep or hibernation between sessions. This leaves all the Firefox tabs as they were. There may be an option for FF to use offline content when starting, but it is not one of the main configuration options.

most imporant component for speed and load?
