if your motherboard is sticky, it's probably too late. unless the computer was off at the time of the spill. if there was any power running through it, the sugary liquid would cause a short somewhere.

The highest percentage rubbing alcohol you can find with a q-tip and gentle hands would be okay, I would think. If I'm wrong, someone please, please, PLEASE correct me before he does this.

Distilled Water would be your best bet as it contains no chemicals and no minerals.

I would buy enough to immerse the whole board in it for a day so as to disolve all the sticky syrup left by the soda.

Once that is done let air dry or you can speed it up with compressed air (be sure that the air source is clean) or a air dryer on the low heat setting.

    Best regards

I think frenchnew has the best idea.

the bios backup battery has to be removed first, so theirs no power running through any part of the motherboard.

also you can use slightley warm distilled water, to help in the sugar removal.

but the most important thing is that the motherboard is 100% dry before use.

    good luck.

    John.
