Hello,
I've installed my mSATA yesterday. It has limited storage so i wanted to move some files and folders to the HDD. I couldnt do so.. I did ctrl x and then paste in the HDD but i didnt work nor did copying and then delete the folder on the ssd. Now is my question how can i move folders and files from the ssd to the HDD?
thanks!

Ctrl X is cut, not copy. When you say it didn't work, what happened?
-
i think the error was, this program is being used or something like that.
I tried copying and cutting both didnt work :/ -

Yeah, you can't do that with system folders/files.
Which files/folders were you trying to move? -
program files and i think users.
Sorry im a real rookie with software and already had to reinstall windows and wouldnt like to do that again. How can i free some space on the ssd then? its almost full already... I also woundt like all programs to be installed on the ssd. -
Forget about moving the program files folder, it's not as simple as a drag and drop to move your programs. You can do so with the user folders though.

create a folder in the hdd, call it whatever you want, right click on it and add to the library, and remove the other folder from your other library. thus when click on the win explorer music for example you are going to be redirected to the folder on your hdd. -

You can re-install Windows 7 and have certain folders install on a secondary drive. I did that for about a year.

But you'll have to re-install Windows to do it properly.
I have seen problems with newer programs though (CS6 PS) and am not recommending it going forward.
The best you can do is uninstall all/any programs you have and then re-install to the HDD (make a 'Progs' folder on the HDD to install them to). Also; move your Users folders inside a folder you create (and give full permissions to) on your HDD. Other than that, your options are very limited.
Sell your too small mSATA and buy an M4 256GB version???
60GB mSATA for Win7/8 (with a final partition size of less than 56GB)? What were you thinking!
We need TB SSD's NOW, not snack-sized SSD capacities that are smaller than some camera's SD cards...
(Didn't I mention that this would be too small for your use?)... -

That won't work: you need to make a folder, give it full permissions, and then MOVE your USER folders to the created folder.
What you're suggesting will break some programs (if not Windows itself). -

I wasnt very clear, but that process doesnt kill anything.
We are not physically removing anything, just using the library system.
Basically:
1) Create a folder called music in the HDD
2) Assign that folder as a library for music
3) Remove the user folder music from the library music
4) move the contents of the user folder music to the music folder in the HDD
5) Pay me 500 denarii. -

Okay, I saw 'remove' and I almost passed out: sure your system will work (but don't forget about the permissions...).
5) So now, we're even. -
about the snack size ssd, it was a deal for 10 euro's...
too good to miss i'd say. i dont have the money now to spend big bucks on big ssd's.
Thanks for the info i ll look into the library stuff. I think ill do the same thing for program files. -

Well, I hope it helps you enough to get some use out of your SSD.
I don't know how good a deal it was though (if you're hitting the limits already)?
It would have been a better deal if you got two 60GB SSD's for 20+ euro's - there is such a thing as 'too little'. -
it was a special deal with my laptop there was an option that they send an ssd with the laptop the 60gb cost 10 extra the 120gb cost 60 extra..
Its an mSATA ssd and the motherboard got only 1 slot. But it might be worth upgrading the ssd later to faster and more storage one.. -

Oh, I understand that even with 'wow' deals there are limitations and restrictions imposed - I'm glad you didn't get that 120GB SSD for 60 euro's extra (I think that is an even worse deal; it's still 'almost' good enough but 6x pricier - what is 'good enough' for me? 240/256GB capacity partitioned to at least 30% less than max).
-
i have another question regarding my ssd. It seems to be getting fuller eventho i do not install anything on it. It says 32GB i used but when i check my folders i get a max of 20

I would disable 'System Protection', turn off Hibernation and set the pagefile to something like 512MB Min. to 1.5GB Max. (custom settings - assuming you have at least 8GB RAM).
I would also download and run CCleaner making sure to select the Windows Log files and the Windows Error Reporting check boxes too.
This should give you the leanest system possible: but it still won't match what Windows reports and what you can query with various tools.
Hope this helps.
