    Hello all!

Can someone tell me if the new Nvidia GPUs (5XX) will be mxm 3.0b?

    Thanks

    Depends.

The high end ones would be.

    GPUs are not MXM.

Manufacturers use MXM and put the GPU on the MXM board.

You will see ALL of gpus in ALL types of forms. Which are unbranded MXM 3.0 and will work in other systems simply depends on the laptop they are coming from.

For example, high TDP Asus cards are MXM but not compatible with other systems.
high TDP MSI, Dell/Alienware and Clevo cards are usually pretty standard and can be used with each other, but there will still be issues.

Your question is one that is well complimented by the squares and rectangles analogy, E. G.:
"can someone tell me if the newest 5XX series rectangles will be square?"

Let me put it this way, the GPU is literally a small square. It is compatible with BGA and SMT machines and all manner of circuit boards. That is the only electrical standard Nvidia cares about whatsoever.

    MXM does pose limits.

MXM-A for example has a TDP limit of 35W, you are unlikely to get an HD6970 in MXM-A form.
