    Hi,

I have a MSI GX720 notebook (MSI-1722 ID2). Can anyone tell me what mxm specifcation my GPU has. Nvidia 9600m GT (GDDR3). I think it is a type 2 card???

Does anyone know if there is a ATI 4850 (1GB) type 2 card that would fit my laptop?? and where to get one, it very hard to source this card. tried ebay and mxm-upgrade.com - no luck so far

    Thank you.

    regards

9600M GT in GX720 is an MXM2.1 typeII card. GX720 (MS-1722 ID2) should be compatible with MSI Mobility Radeon 4850 512MB GDDR3 (MXM2.1 typeIII), as well as Alienware Mobility Radeon 4850 1GB GDDR3 (MXM2.1 typeIII). The above cards seem to be incompatible with MS-1722 ID1 though.

No one has tried to flash it with the MSI bios?

    I wouldn't risk flashing a 1GB card with a vBIOS from a 512MB card.

Check NBR Marketplace, I think there is one or two sales of MXM2.1 4850 pending.

It really depends. I have successfully flashed cards with bioses made for 32 more pipelines and they worked reliably.

The 1gb one is for sale because it doesn't work in a gx720, and the other one is yours isnt it?
