Well instead of getting a new laptop, i'm going to wait until next summer....and i have to make a trip to san antonio this november, so i decided that i atleast have to upgrade a few things.

i'm going to put a 1gb stick of ram into it along with a generic 12cell battery.

    my questions are:

what ram will fit this computer and be pretty good preformance wise?

does anybody have any problems with generic batteries? anybody have one?

Generally, this is considered a good buy - cheap but seems to be good RAM. This may be worth checking out too; a little cheaper and OCZ is generally a very good brand.

I don't know about generic batteries; I've never even heard of such a thing for the 9300, much less a 12-cell...I'm not even sure how that would fit, there's no way for it to extend past the laptop.

Any 200-pin DDR2 SO-DIMM will work fine in the computer, and all RAM is going to perform the same. The timings are BIOS-locked, so it's not gonna make a difference performance-wise what RAM you get.

I would not recommend using a generic battery. I have heard of many of them not working properly with the stock charger and many of them are not as high quality as the stock stuff. I'd recommend looking for a 9 cell on ebay or through a Dell dealer on the forums. I'd definitely look for Dell branded stuff though.

well i was looking for a dell brand battery on ebay, and i found the generic 12cell battery. both sellers have 99.X% rating and they both say for models 9400, 9300 plus a few others like that........and the battery looks just like mine except where the dell logo is on the uper left corner its blacked out.
