    ok, so ive had my FreeAgent 500GB Seagate External for about a month - worked fine up until now.

    everything is plugged in correctly, and the power light on the device is on, but for some reason my computer is not recognizing it? Is my drive broken?

    It could be, or it could be a bad connection inside. Have you tried to reformat it?
