so my laptop has decided it wanted to stop charging, i usually keep it plugged in all the time except for when i wanna go somewhere w/o the cable and its usually on all the time, but in sleep mode when i sleep, and for some reason it stopped charging. When i take out the poser cord and put it back in the little icon will start moving as if its charging then stop moving and stay stuck on 20%. I've tried turning the computer off and leaving it plugged in, i've tried hibernating it and leaving it plugged it but nope it won't charge. The computer still works and as long as i have the cord in it stays on but it will not charge anymore. I have a satellite 305D model and the only things i have hooked up to it are a cooling pad that plugs into the usb slots. Oh and i've unhooked the usb slots and it wouldn't charge either.

unplug everything on your computer except the mouse maybe.

does the computer comes with battery management software?
a battery management software usually comes with an option that goes something like this.

stop charging my notebook when it reach (eg. 100%)... or, start charging my notebook once it reach (eg. 96%)...

it could also means that either the adapter is on its last leg. or the battery is dead. how long have you had the battery for? could also means that the MB is broken...

download passmark batterymon trial and see what it says for the battery capacity. You may have a bad battery.

You may also want to boot into the BIOS while unplugged and let the battery run down until the laptop shutdown its self.
Then plug it in after 1/2 hour or so and see if the battery charges past that 20%.
    Good luck.
