I currently have 1 gb of RAM on my laptop, i want to have 2 gbs though, so i was looking online for 1gb memory stick, but i could only find 2x1gb sticks, and i don't need two if i already have one. Is there anywhere i could find ONE 1gb memory stick? Secondly, is this a good video showing how to install RAM? I mean, is it really that simple? Is there anything i need to be aware of that they didn't mention?
Thanks in advance guys!

Where are you located? If the US, then newegg.com definitely has 1gb sticks.
And yes it's as simple as getting to the memory slots and popping the new stick in. -
You can find lots of 1GB sticks at Buy.com, Newegg.com and other retail sites...
Yes, it is easy enough, as long as you follow the instructions given in your manual (like discharging yourself before touching the memory modules, etc.), otherwise you might damage your memory and laptop..... -
So how do i know which one is the best and that would work on my laptop?

Make sure your 1 GB is 1x1GB and not 2x 512 MB. If it's the latter, you need the 2x 1 GB kit to reach 2GB RAM because your laptop only has 2 slots.
You also need to know which type of RAM is supported by your laptop. Download CPU-Z and post screenshots of the memory tab. -

Waiiiiit, i just checked the "SPD" tab, and it showed that i had 512mb in 2 slots? I thought i have one 1gb for some reason =/
-
Yup, most likely 1gb installed will be in 2x512mb sticks for the dual channel.
-
I'm confused, so do i have 2x512mb or .. yeah that?
-
yes, you have 2x512 sticks. To get 2GB, you need to buy one 2 GB stick or two 1 GB sticks.
-
This looks like a good deal, is it compatible with my laptop? Will they fit?
-
That is a desktop memory kit.
Any DDR2 Notebook memory will fit and work in your laptop. -
Ah. Sorry to be a pain in the butt, but i just wana make sure before ordering, this is the best deal i found. What do you think?
-
Try http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134554 -
Any DDR2 200-pin SODIMM will work for you....... -
-
240pin = desktop -
Thanks alect

By the sounds of things yes, you do have 2 x 512 totaling in 1Gb of RAM. What you need is 2 x 1Gb sticks to upgrade your laptop to 2Gb of RAM, hope this makes it clear for you

Finally got it. I'm kinda scared to put them in as i never did this before.
