    need a high quality usb hub - mains powerd

    hi all quick question if i may :p

    i plan on adding 6-8 external usb powed drives as i can get them cheap and its easier for me as they are self powered through the connection and compact compared to a external caddie type drive.
    anyways i need a brand name or product of a top good quality usb mains powered hub to power them ..money no object only say that as i have had one or two unbranded oem ones off ebay before and they where $%£% and didnt have enough power even tho they were supposed to be mains power fed.

    or if possible a high quality FireWire 400 Ultra-fast high speed interface hub mains powered (IEEE1394b).

    any ideas please. :)

    are you saying the ones bought off of ebay were supposed to be powerd by the USB port? if so, look for ones with external power. I've only found one of my devices to not work off my powered hub. If you look on your hub, you might even be able to find a plug for a power adapter. In which case you can just buy a power adapter for it.

    yes i have experienced problems with several external powered hubs off ebay with 2-3 external drives as they never had enough juice even tho the hub was external mains powered so i was wondering if there was a good brand to look out for?

    Why don't you just get an express card/pcmcia card usb/firewire add on card? If you go with the USB only option you can get up to 3-4 additional ports and you don't have to worry about the lack of power typically seen with external hubs. Other than that you may just need to get an adapter for an external hub. I bought a 4 port logitech usb hub and it does have the option for external power adapter. I am trying to find a usb plug power adapter for it as opposed to the plug in socket variety....
