Hi, I have no idea what size the hdd has to be for my Asus G50VT-A1 laptop.
    I use a 80gb SSD for Win7 & programs and have a 2nd HDD (currently 500gb) for games,music/videos/pictures/downloads,...

The HDD got really slow and i think its damaged aswell as i need more space. So i want to buy a 750gb+ SATA HDD.

I found the Samsung Spinpoint M8 (5400rpm • 8MB Cache).. but i dont know if that is too slow ? My current HDD is a 7200rpm 500gb SATA (the standart one which is in the Asus G50vt-A1).

Also which height do i need? 9mm oder 12mm ?

    Thanks

    9mm is standard size

Some laptops havent physical room for the 12mm.

I have the 1tb 5400rpm 12mm Samsung spinpoint!! Great value for money. It gets a lot hotter than my old stock 120gb HDD, but thats to be expected. Never found no issues with it being slow.

If you can fit it in, It wouldnt be a bad choice I will say.
