I have this post going on NCIX.com, so please check it out to see what I'm asking about in detail. in short I'm confused by the advertising of DDR2 667 with systems (desk and laptop) when they actually use the slower DDR2 533. are they all still using a quad pumped FSB? are desktops 1066mhz FSB and notebooks a 667mhz?

thanks for the clarification help guys!

I am still confused about your question. I assume you are asking why manufacturers use 533MHz memory instead of 667MHz?? There are most likely 2 reasons:
    1. 533Mhz memory is slightly cheaper
    2. The difference between 533 & 667MHz memory is minimal due to the increased latencies with 667MHz memory. See this thread for more info.

If the manufacturer is advertising 667MHz memory and selling it with 533MHz memory then its obviously false advertising.

Um do you mind kind of summarizing your question? I'm too lazy to go thru that entire other thread and find your question...
