    new battery problem

    I have a DEll Inspiron E1405, 3 years old. The battery was shot so I bought the same kind of battery and installed it and ever since for no reason the screen goes grey, I can still hear sound but nothing on the screen. I have to shut it off and reboot then everything is fine. So, now what? Is it the battery and should I get another? I charged the battery, let it run down, charged it again and let it run down again. Anything else?

    Does this happen when it is plugged into the adapter, or just running off battery? Does it do this if you take the battery out and run it solely off the adapter?

    Did it ever do anything like this with the bad battery?

    It never happened with the old battery. The old battery had no life left. Totally went dead when unpluged. Now it goes blank when it is unplugged from the power cord (which is also new)

    Did you buy this battery online, or straight from Dell?

    I would recommend making sure that the BIOS is up-to-date.
