Your drive has a PATA interface (IDE)

I wouldn't go above 250GB and a 5400RPM (this is an upgrade in itself)

That's if you're sure you want it to work!

    Thanks.

The 7200RPM PATA drive are in short supply right now which makes them more expensive. Plus the PATA 7200RPM drives are limited to 100GB in size. Some of the newer 5400RPM drives benchmark fairly close to the older generation 7200RPM drives with seek times just a bit slower. I believe the biggest PATA 5400RPM drives are 250GB.

For PATA harddrives, go with the Samsung HM160HC.
It is a 160gb 5400rpm model, which uses one disk rather than two. It has the same data density as the 320gb 5400rpm drives, which is 52mb/sec, which is the fastest PATA harddrive on the market.
I own this drive and it really is fast, I even made a review of it, so check it out.

Their are comparison charts between the 250Gb Western Digital BEVE drive and the Samsung drive is significantly faster.
However, if you want a higher capacity, go for the 250gb drive, but depending on how old your Bios is, you may have to partition it into 2 125Gb partitions.

By the way, both the 250gb wd and the 160gb samsung are faster than the 7200rpm PATA harddrives.
