Some time ago my started to have some problems. In laptop service i was told that my hard drive is damaged. I bought new one replaced old and tried everything from the beginning. I tried to install new OS but laptop want boot. Whenever i choose disk drive option in bios boot settings ,save changes and exit from bios screen goes black and never change. I thought to install drivers first but how can i do that if there is no windows on hd installed.

    Hmmm...

How are you installing the O/S? Does it complete this step (or any)?

What problems were you having 'some time ago'?

Seems like this could be a video card failing, a motherboard failing or even something as simple as a connector (RAM, screen, HDD or ??? giving an intermittent connection).

Would love some more background info.

I tried to install OS from bootable Xp cd. Problems some time ago was not shutting down and starting up properly. Sometimes i had to use last known good settings. After some time my laptop stopped booting. Then i decided to format. Few times in the very beginning of installing new xp (just after CLICK ANY BUTTON TO START BOOT FROM CD or something like that) some communicate appeared something about file is corrupted or missing. People from laptop service checked laptop and said its a hd. So i an hit new one, installed it,switched on laptop and started to install os. But whenever it s switched on it won't boot, just a blank screen.tried with bios but no luck. I haven't even went to first step of installing due to some unknown fault.

    This one could be tough.

Start with the basics: use one stick of RAM (make sure to try both slots too) and then try the other stick too in both slots (or, use a new/known good stick of RAM, by itself to rule out the RAM modules being flakey.

See if that gets you anywhere.

    Good luck.

Tried with memory and nothing. My bios is in english but that info about corrupted or missing file was in polish. Hope this small clue will help.
