The 16" y650 only has an option for a 720p screen; is there any way i can get a 900p screen for it?

Any 16" 900p screen would work?

I am thinking to do the same thing on Y550. If I buy Y550 I want to upgrade the screen to WSXGA+. Hence I have the same question, I just buy the same size - 15.6" display panel off of ebay and it should work?

All Y series have LED displays, does it matter when buying a panel?

It's not as easy as it sounds. Displays aren't universal, or my ThinkPad T61 would have a 15" 1440x900 LED panel from a Macbook Pro.

Flex cables can be different, as well as the position where they connect. Inverter voltage can be completely different. Type of interface standard between displays can be different too. Try going to the home page of a manufacturer like AU Optronics some time and checking out the differences in panel specs.

As far as I know, the only way this would work is if you had a 720p screen, but the Y550 had a 900p screen model and you had buyer's remorse.

I see, thank you. I guess it's easier to find 15" laptop with all the specs that I want. Excuse for intruding into this thread.
