Yes I am new to this site. I am looking to add more RAM and upgrade to a dvd burner. I have threads from the past stating that the memory in the zv5000 series could be upgraded to 2GB. Is this true? Also can anyone tell me a internal dvd burner compatible with this laptop?

thank you, but it says that my memory 512mb (2x256mb) and that I can only change one module (giving me 1280mb) is this true? Also I want to know about a compatible dvd burner.

Looking at the specs, you may have 256mb of memory on the mobo, and only one sodimm that can be upgraded. It looks like 1.25 gb is the max for your system. :(

thank you all. I think I'll just upgrade the one module. I don't want to take the chance and mess up the laptop. It looks like it will be a tedious process. If I'm wrong please let me know.

By the way any info on a dvd burner. I'm thinking just to use a internal desktop burner with my IDE-USB adapter. But I really want an internal laptop dvd burner. Which option is best and do you know which internal dvd burner that is compatible with my laptop.

Upgrading ram, tedious? But no, if one module is soldered on the board, you can not change that. ;)

That can be a little hard to find. There are a few dvd burners to choose from, but they may not have a good fit around the faceplate after it is installed. A good start would to remove the existing one and get the make/model off the unit and look for a dvd burner from the same manufacturer. You should be looking for a "slim-line internal dvd/cd writer". I have the pioneer slot load DVR-KO6 on my acer 5672.

I don't know for sure if the second module is soldered. I am going to look into that today. As far as the optical drive, I've read how people had to modify their internal slim dvd burners to fit their laptops. I want to know is this worth it. Right now I'm leaning toward buying a internal desktop dvd burner and use my IDE to USB adapter. Cheaper, yes but too many extra wires. I live in a apartment and space is minimal. I want to know your opinions

merry x-mas to all. I want to take this time to thank you all for your time and answers. I've decided to upgrade from 512 mb ram t 1.256mb ram and I'm going to use a internal dvd burner plugged up to my ide to usb adapter. Again thanks all and happy holidays.
