DDR is 400mhz, DDR2 is 533mhz. AMD doesn't use DDR2 as of yet, since their FSB is larger then the FSB of the Pentium M which uses DDR2.

No DDR2 for AMD before a 4 months at least (June) ... and that's for desktops.

It's not really such a loss. I cannot see AMD benifiting much from DDR2, just like Sonoma didn't. Plus DDR2 has larger latencies which hamper it down a bit.

The Turion64 machine with DDR will be faster than a similarly priced Pentium M with DDR2. Intel motherboards need the slightly higher clock speed of DDR2 to attempt to compensate for the fact that their CPU's do not have an on chip memory controller. So with the Turion you save atleast $100 bucks, get a faster system, and get 64bit capability.

You should also note that Microsoft announced today that HALO2 for PC will not run on Windows XP, so Microsoft is about to slowly begin forcing the entire world to migrate to Vista. M$ doesn't make any money unless they can force you to upgrade that OS. I rec that you go ahead and get the Turion64 system now and then upgrade that puppy to 64bit Vista a little while after it comes out. TALK ABOUT A SPEED UPGRADE! Good luck.
