Now that a few notebooks are using
SSD (solid state drive) instead of a
hard drive AND with Vista using the
flash drive as a hard drive too, I'm
thinking that maybe the RAM and the
hard drive will "merge" (the CPU using
the SSD as its RAM) ... and why not
imagining one of the duo or quad CPU
used only for graphic ... that would
leave us with no card, no RAM, no HD.
I noticed that new flash MP3 players
are cheaper that the old HD ones![]()
so ... maybe the next generation of
notebook will all have SSD and Windows
%$# will use that as a big readyboost![]()
Amusingly, in the book Teleportation,
David Darling talk of bank data transfer
(optical only so far) technology result.
(no data then)
-
well in actuality I think readyboost would partially be useless other than categorization once SSD's hit mainstream, because they wont have to ration what is put in that category because everything will exist within it.....on the main drive anyway, but I agree with what you are saying
basically you'll have storage space, several cores and controllers, not much else except spots to exchange -
Which option is too expensive now, maybe later?
-
now i might be a little behind, but what exactly is a ssd?
is it like a flash drive with like 36 gb on it? -
Basicly yes. But It's geared towards being used as your main drive.
SSD stands for Solid State Drive. -
Ah? SSD speed is what? Get rid of ram?
-
It is not as fast as ram, but is MUCH faster than a HDD,
-
it essentially is ram........
